Libby Workshop

2 0r 3 day Workshop

Libby is a 22” freestanding birdcage doll.  She is beautifully adorned with delicate ribbon flowers, venise lace, and flower beads.   Her skirt is made of ribbon wrapped wire to create a lovely birdcage skirt, complete with a bird on a perch.  The face is sculpted from paper clay, and painted with simple acrylic paints.  Her upper body is formed using a wire armature covered with batting, and costumed.  Oh so pretty!

We will start our first day in class by sculpting a face from paper clay.  I have found a fun and simple way to sculpt a face and I will be sharing that technique with you.   We will discuss and experiment with costuming tricks that include altering premade flowers, dying ribbon and making handmade flowers, draping fabrics, ribbon wrapping, rouching techniques (beautiful yet simple), and beading.  Of course we will also be building a wire armature, and making hands/fingers from wire.  This is a super fun workshop with a lot of great techniques included.    We may not be able to finish all the costuming in class, but you will leave with all the information and directions needed for finishing her at home.  This project is all done by hand and you will not need a sewing machine.

To make your artistic adventure a breeze, I have put together a class kit.  The cost is $30, and it contains the hardware and hard to find supplies needed for your project.

This class is currently scheduled:  The Doll Party Gala 2012
